All About Me
My name is Sarah Dunkirk and I am an ENL teacher at Springs School. I love teaching and I love seeing students prosper when learning the English language. I find it to be very rewarding when a student comes to the United States from another country not knowing the English language and by the end of the year, they have learned and grown both academically and socially. I also enjoy seeing students use new strategies and skills when it comes to reading and navigating through texts. I love reading and have always been an avid reader; it is rewarding when my students share that same passion.
I attended SUNY Oswego for my undergraduate studies where I majored in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I found languages to be fascinating, especially how to attain a second language other than your own, so I decided TESOL was the perfect major for me. I also studied at Long Island University where I graduated with my Master's in Literacy Education. I am currently taking advanced Master's classes in Technology Education through Stony Brook University.
I am married and have two boys! When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and sons, friends and family, reading, going to the beach, going to concerts, traveling, and paddle boarding. Check out my three dogs below!
